Field of Dreams (Film)
This film has has such a strong resonance with me ever since I first saw it. I think that's because it's basically about following a course of action that doesn't make sense and also has a subplot about the main chartacter's relationship with his father which always gets me whenever I see the film.
It's only recently having watched the Finding Joe film many times now that I've realised that Field of Dreams is a perfect example of what Joseph Campbell called The Hero's Journey. That is, it inclues: "the call to adventure"; trials and problems faced along the way; reconcilliation; the fruits of the journey benefiting the whole community.
However, most people and critics dismiss Field of Dreams as just a very pleasant, corny film with Kevin Costner in it.
