At The Water's Edge

The Original Star Wars Films
I've only seen these films once on video, they don't actually appeal that much to me even though I know they were based on Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey model. These films weren't the only ones around at the time but they seemed to be the most successful both commercially and for longevity. I can understand the success as it takes people vback to their childhoods but I just wonder, since it was such an archetypal story whether it resonated with people at a deeper level. I'm not an expert on these films, so I'm completely out of my depth and therefore might be totally wide of the mark. But what I know of " the force" seems to have some parallels to Taoist thinking and indeed some of the ideas quoted elsewqhere in this section. Maybe that's why the films were so successful, they resonated with people on a level which they were even perhaps unaware?
