"Not a Hope in Hell"

Well, that was a bit of a kick up the backside! Who'd have thought I'd now forget bits of Cold Heart? Or not even be able to remember the third line of American Pie? And wait for the irony here (in more ways than one): not even be able to start It's Just Not There?

I tell you when it happens, it feels like like I'm crossing the Grand Canyon and can't find a bridge i.e. probably not a hope in hell in actually remembering what I need. Of course it doesn't help that everyone is watching you. I think I know what caused the problem: learning two new songs beforehand thinking I'd got everything sussed for the evening. I don't know if anybody else has found a similar situation but perhaps it muddies the brain trying to learn something so close to playing? And guess what - I bottled playing one of the new songs too. What a fool.

No matter, though it was all a bit ropey, I got some very nice compliments from The Dancers. And also actually a very nice compliment about the "At The Water's Edge" CD too. And then to cap it all the offer of a gig. Hardly slashing wrists time (yet).
