Great interview with Patti Smith in the Guardian by Aida Edemariam on Saturday, which included a few glimpses of the "artist as a young person". I particularly liked: "Her friend, Robert Maplethorpe, refused to "listen to me falter, question myself, question my abilities"; who held fast to the idea that her art and her dreams mattered, and if only she could hang on to them, they could win out." [I know at least one of the visitors to these pages who will like that, so that one's for you.
Note to self - read the Victor Bockris biography that has been on my shelf for the last seven years.
