"Intimacy In The Country"
It has been six months since I played at the Greyhound and it was good to back. It's probably the smallest venue I play, the room is comparable to a medium-sized lounge and as a result the atmosphere is quite intimate with the audience's focus more on the performer than at other venues.
I was pleased with my performance and I'm not sure if it wasn't my best so far. I felt like I was on top of all of the songs, actually "communicating" them and it felt cool. The audience seemed to appreciate it too and were generous in their applause. The jovial banter with them was also enjoyable though I'm not sure if I'm running the risk of venturing into similar territory to Leonard Cohen and his regret when he revealed Janis Joplin was the subject of Chelsea Hotel.
There were some other great performances throughout the evening, I particularly thought Luke Paulo's songs came over really well. It was one of those evenings where you leave the house thinking "I could do without this tonight" and then you come home happy to be alive. Thanks to Rob Sowden for another well run evening.
