I thought last night's documentary on the business of comedy was excellent. Not only for seeing my ex-colleague and ex-Farnham musician Geoff Whiting doing so well for himself but also for some of the messages that came from the programme. In particular what sticks in my mind:

• How Geoff tried an open-mic just on the off-chance when he'd been made redundant
• How Geoff stuck at it (I think he says he's done over 4000 performances) and how all of those that have "made it" travelled up and down the country for no reward for many years
• How Geoff would spend two hours a day in his "office" - a public telephone box
• How Rhod Gilbert was close to tears recalling a corporate gig that did.

In conclusion these guys make it look easy but it wasn't always thus. Highly recommended (and not only for comedians but for all artists) and can only be seen for the next week on iPlayer here.
