ROBERT SOWDEN / HELEN REID / ANDREW SHEARER
"A New Dawn"
This is one of three gig reports (6th June & 2nd June) that have taken me four months to get round to. Looking at the three I've probably needed a bit of hindsight just to put them into perspective.
I don't remember much about my performance this night. I think it went
reasonably well though I was still struggling with the new guitar. What
I do remember is that You've Got The Magic Back hadn't ever sounded so
good live with much of the audience participating with various percussion
instruments. Also I remember Raji K complimented Silent Valley as one
of his favourite songs of mine.
Helen Reid's performance was of it's usual high quality with her powerful voice and songs; there are one or two of her songs that are so melodic that they are hooked into your memory forever once you've heard them.
Helen's set and the gig ended in quite a lively fashion as everyone again joined in with percussion and dancing. It was quite a good party atmosphere with more drinking and a kebab after. However as I got home, just as the sun was rising, it did feel like something was off, something not quite right. Little did I know at the time that it was the end of one chapter and the start of a more healthier, positive one.
